About the project

Be part of an amazing FREE project with Marin Alsop and the Stay At Home Choir!

Last year, the Stay At Home Choir took part in The Global Ode to Joy. We joined forces with the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra and renowned conductor Marin Alsop to perform the last movement of Beethoven's 9th symphony, with a new text by former American Poet Laureate Tracy K. Smith.

And this summer, Marin is inviting us to join her again for The Global Ode to Joy - LIVE in Vienna!

Stay At Home Choir singers will take part in live rehearsals on Zoom and YouTube, led by SAHC co-founders Tori Longdon and Jamie Wright. But for the first time ever, we're bringing you 'hybrid' rehearsals - SAHC members will sing with a choir rehearsing together in the same room in Vienna, led by choirmaster Heinz Ferlesch. There'll also be a special guest appearance from Marin Alsop herself!

You'll get the chance to virtually join the Wiener Singakademie, the amazing choir of the Vienna Konzerthaus, as they prepare for an open-air concert with the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra. Their final live performance will be conducted by Marin Alsop and broadcast on Saturday 3rd July.

SAHC will provide all of our signature learning resources, including scores, learning videos, guide tracks, and an introduction to a brand new German text by poet Michael Köhlmeier.

Although technical details have yet to be finalised, we're also hoping that the Stay At Home Choir might have some part to play in the live concert in Vienna in July...

About the Stay At Home Choir

The Stay At Home Choir is an online music-making community. We run virtual choir projects which allow over 26,000 people from over 76 countries to sing with their favourite artists.

Being a part of your wonderful online singing community is SUCH a massive help and comfort. It is utterly amazing to be a (tiny!) part of this incredible effort and just wanted to say thank you for all that you do to ensure that we continue to sing together.

Sioban, UK

We provide detailed learning resources, online rehearsals, and one-off sessions with internationally acclaimed musicians, conductors, and composers. Our members become part of a friendly and thriving community, connecting with fellow music-lovers around the world.

The joy and enthusiasm is so infectious, it is wonderful! And living in a remote village, the choir gives me the chance to sing music in a choir that I otherwise wouldn't be able to.
Ann, UK

We've collaborated with artists including Gareth Malone, The King's Singers, Christopher Tin, The Swingles, John Rutter, Sir Karl Jenkins, VOCES8, Marin Alsop, the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

For me being part of the SAHC community, meeting all those crazy, inspiring, wonderful and musical people from all over the world is something that I never had thought I would ever experience. And look where we are now!! What an achievement!! What a joy!! What a hell of a lot of fun and happiness.
